Christmas with Marisa Young

We catch up with the talented Marisa Young to find out how she celebrates Christmas and what special tips she has to share about wrapping the perfect gift.

1. How would you describe your wrapping style?

I would probably describe my wrapping style as a juxtaposition: it’s simple yet layered, mismatched yet matched. I love combining different patterns but they will always have a complementary colour or theme to tie them all together. I approach my wrapping in a similar way to my flat lays so I love layering the wrapping paper with such things as ribbon, tape, twine, leaves or flowers [real or paper] and making it a bit of a work of art. I often put as much heartfelt love into the wrapping as I do choosing the gift. Anything hard to wrap, I grab a box and wrap it in that…I cannot handle messy wrapping so I’m a bit of a perfectionist too!

2. What do you love about wrapping gifts for the festive season?

Wrapping gifts whilst watching Love Actually and enjoying a glass of vino of course! But keep the glass well away from the wrapping paper and gifts…lesson learnt! Seriously though, the festive season is such a magical time of year and the giving of gifts, no matter how big or small, is truly special. Making it beautiful with wrapping is certainly the cherry on top!

This year is extra special for me as it’s my first Christmas with my beautiful little girl so I’m embracing a blush theme with my decorations which I’m sure will extend to my festive wrapping. I love being a bit of a rule breaker when it comes to festive wrapping.

3. How do you choose the perfect wrapping paper for someone special? Do you choose a design which reflects their personality?

I certainly do choose wrapping paper that suits their personality and what they love whilst still reflecting my own unique style. I put a lot of thought into my wrapping and often people can pick my gifts from the wrapping style.

4. Which is your favourite design from the Little Branch collection?

Oh my, I have so many favourites! I’m a huge fan of florals so I love the ‘Rose Stem‘ and ‘Alannah‘ wrapping…these would be fabulous as Christmas wrap without being too traditionally festive. I would use these all year round!

Fleur‘ and ‘Drips and Drops‘ are equally as divine. Plus, the Emma Blomfield Collection ‘Winter‘, ‘Spring‘, ‘Summer‘ and ‘Autumn‘ is gorgeous too!
